A Bit of Information About Our Operation

Two Rivers Honey is a family run business based just outside of Pilot Mound, Iowa. Here, we have 80 acres of timber along the Des Moines River that provide a vast array of organic resources for our honey bees. We also have bees along the Raccoon River in West Des Moines, Iowa, across from Walnut Woods State Park, and near Dow City, Iowa, along a large creek - both of these locations provide a vast array of resources for our bees as well.

All of our honey is wildflower honey we believe to be collected in areas that have not been sprayed for anything. In the spring and summer it is virtually clear, while the fall brings a darker honey from the darker nectar of the fall flowers. It's delicious year round!

We endeavor to keep our bees healthy using natural methods, such as powdered sugar treatments for varroa mites instead of insecticide strips. If we must use a non-natural method, we do so during non-honey production times so that it doesn't get into our honey. If we must treat during honey production, we remove all honey supers until treatment is complete (meaning it has stopped and has completely dissipated in the hive).
